INGREDIENTS

Sweet Vernal Grass - Anthoxanthum odoratum This long-lasting aroma, also known as vanilla-grass, is one of the most sought-after scents in perfumery, with the scent of sweet summer meadows emanating with coumarinic notes of clover and cut grass. Similar in scent and related to the sacred Sweetgrass (Hierochloë) that gets braided for burning in North America, Sweet Vernal Grass is distilled from the grassy, merry meadows of Mediterranean France, where the essence is known as Flouve. This aroma aerates the senses with herbaceous hay notes dappled in honeyed-hints of Vanilla that positively entice the spirit to come out and play. Steffen Arctander’s plenary work, Perfume and Flavor Materials of Natural Origin, explains why Flouve (Sweet Vernal Grass) is a paragon of the perfumer’s palette: “unquestionably one of the most interesting natural perfume ingredients which have come up in recent decades… having a very sweet, herbaceous, tobacco-like and coumarinic odor. The odor is so rich and so complex that one can keep finding notes in it… the overall fragrance is sweet, root-like, somewhat mossy-herbaceous like under-forest and meadows, exceptional tenacity and high penetrating power.”
Hay - Hierochloe alpina The countrified aroma of a sweet summer day entwined with tranquil top notes that emanate a happy, honeyed balsamic scent. Making Hay while the sun shines, our distiller dries the fragrant Hay in the sun for months until it is ready to exude its aromatic oil. The smooth, comforting aroma of this agrarian absolute adds an enduring, alluring heart-note to this fragrant foliaged fougère.
Green Lemon - Citrus limon Gorgeous Green Lemon is the aromatic love child of Bergamot and Lemon Verbena and fills the air with a sunny aroma appreciated by all. This distinguished distillation of bright lemony zestiness enchants our Sweetgrass cologne with top notes of sipping aperitifs in the Sicilian sunshine.
Balsam Fir Absolute - Abies balsamea Festive and fragrantly fruity, Balsam Fir Absolute captures the balsamic aroma of fresh coniferous needles. Thoreau once described the aroma of the fresh shoots of the Balsam Fir tree as remarkably emitting “the fragrance of strawberries,” and it is this surprising strawberry-scent that the absolute attains, along with a scintilla of spice and a vesper of camphor. Scent-sniffer extraordinaire, Steffen Arctander, found that Balsam Fir Absolute’s “odor power is easily underestimated, and the apparent suave sweetness has a tremendous penetration in most fragrances. Obviously, this material is particularly useful in Pine and Spruce fragrances, “Christmas tree” odours… but the real pleasure of such a material is primarily obtained when it is used in the more unusual places, in chypre, fougère, muguet cologne bases.” (Perfume and Flavor Materials of Natural Origin)

Produced from certified organic wines from all over the world, organic grape alcohol is between 190 and 200 proof. It is independently tested to ensure it meets the United States Pharmacopeia (USP) standards for pure, organic, pharmaceutical grade alcohol.

HOW TO USE

Spray 1-2 times and use as you would with your typical cologne. 

PACKAGING

This product is packaged in a glass bottle with a wooden lid. The bottle is recyclable through single-stream recycling and the wooden lid is compostable.

END OF LIFE

This product should be used until finished but is otherwise 100% compostable.

We keep it for situations where a bit of bubble wrap will help better protect your product.
