In 2000, designer Sandy Chilewich revolutionized table settings by applying the industrial yarn extrusion process to durable, versatile, and easy-to-clean vinyl, creating woven placemats. Designed in their New York City studio, Chilewich products are now a global presence in both homes and commercial spaces.

To clean, wipe with soap, water, and a soft sponge or cloth. For tough stains, use a soft brush and bleach-based cleaner. Rinse and air dry. Do not machine wash or use a dishwasher. Clean spills quickly, especially tomato, turmeric, or hot sauce, to avoid stains—more likely on light colors. Store flat to prevent creases. Do not fold. Use a trivet to protect from heat damage.

This product offers a sustainable alternative to traditional serveware, thanks to the use of renewable materials.

This product should be used for as long as possible, then donated to give it a new life. While it is not compostable, its long-lasting design makes it ideal for repurposing—consider extending its life by using it as a drawer liner, pet bowl mat, or craft surface protector before eventual disposal.
