Wool is the most hydrophilic of all natural fibers, absorbing as much as 30% of its weight without feeling wet. Our traditional Bierfilzl ("Beer Felt") are the highest quality German Merino wool felt coasters on the market today. Their clean and minimal execution offers an unexpected textural and refined modern heritage element to any home decor.

Our Merino Wool Felt is made exclusively at two factories in Bavaria, where they have been perfecting their technique for over 100 years. We use OEKO-TEX dyes on all of our products, making sure they are non-toxic and free of harmful chemicals.

Merino wool is unique among all wool varieties and prized for its strength, flexibility and softness. The secret of merino wool is the ultra fine fibers, which allow it 50% more flexibility than traditional, courser wool varieties. Merino fibers are typically much longer, creating density, structure and highly reduced pilling.

CARE GUIDE

Stain on your felt product? Don’t worry—merino wool resists stains. Water won’t harm it; just air dry and flatten if needed. For wine, oil, or food: dab with warm water and light detergent, gently massage, pat with a towel—repeat as needed. Rinse and lay flat to dry. For dry stains, use a lint roller. Regular rolling keeps your felt looking fresh.

PACKAGING

This product is packaged in a paper sleeve that is compostable and recyclable through paper and single-stream recycling.

ALTERNATIVE FOR

This product is a sustainable alternative to trivets and coasters made of non-natural materials.

END OF LIFE

This product should be used for as long as possible and then donated to give it a new life. Otherwise, it is compostable.

HOW WE PACK IT

We repurpose all packaging materials we receive for order shipments, including any cardboard boxes, paper, tissue, and corn-based packing peanuts. We use recyclable paper tape with water activated adhesive. Sometimes, plastic wrapping falls on our hands from certain vendors. We keep it for situations where a bit of bubble wrap will help better protect your product.
