Let’s keep the solar eclipse glasses out of the landfill. At Pretty Clean Shop, we will be collecting solar glasses and sending them back to Astronomers Without Borders, who run a program to handle collected glasses to either redistribute them to other countries for future eclipses (it they pass their thorough vetting process) or send to a recycling Center in the U.S.

Sending Solar Glasses to Build Community
Since 2008, Astronomers Without Borders has been sending solar glasses for solar eclipses to people who may not otherwise have a safe way to view the eclipse directly in countries in Africa, Asia, North and South America.
Recycling Donated Glasses
After the 2017 Great American Eclipse, they received millions of donated glasses and turned those into a few hundred thousand that were vetted for reusability and then sent to South America, Asia, and Africa.
